Locost ‘production’ history - STM etc?
Hi
Does anyone how many Locost chassis Stuart Taylor Motorsport, Aries, Martin Keenan (MK Engineering), Dwornick Engineering, Procomp etc produced? Just
curious about the history of jig produced chassis rather than one-offs. And any detail differences.
I was primarily thinking of live axle chassis close to the original book as raced in 750 Motor Club series, rather than development of IRS cars (MK
Indy etc) and use of MX5 donors.
Some of this is a surprisingly long time ago! It would be nice if this was recorded and documented as are 1950s/1960s Ford specials are.
As an aside, do Locosts generally get viewed as a Specialist Production car for UK sprints and hillclimb events? Often hear of ‘Locaterfield’ type
cars.
Cheers
Mike

Ian grey who set up Stuart Taylor is on Facebook. He may tell you. Procomp are still going so you could approach them. Martin Keenan may still be
around and able to tell you, but you'd then have to find his brother (Baz?l to get the numbers after he took over. Aries went on to do some other
form of Motorsport I think. You'll also need mac1 and their was a Scottish company. You also need uncle Ron & luego.
However, I recall a story a long time ago about one manufacturer (can't remember who, probably not one from this list, and have no idea if it was
true so won't name anyone anyway) that used to have different people in the factory sell you the car. This meant the company turnover was split
between many people instead of the company so avoided some tax limit. If that's true I can't see someone admitting to a stranger how many
they produced.
