Painting over powdercoat?

morning folks.

I've just been wondering if it is possible to paint/lacquer over a powdercoated component? I want to lacquer a couple of chassis members that have been powdercoated (polyester I think, but it could be epoxy based), just to protect them a bit more, as they are bits that I will be stepping on the get in and out of my car.

has anyone got any thoughts on this?

I'm also getting my ally wheels powder coated satin black, so would this benefit from a further coating of lacquer to protect them a bit more?

Cheers
Andy

Regards alloy wheels, they should be suitable laquered, no matter what they have been coloured with, by the sound of it you are not coating the wheels your self so the company doing it should laquer the wheels at the same time.

If not then halfrods sell alloy wheel laquer, but check first that it is suitable for use on powder coating, my experiance of alloy wheel laquer was on painted alloys.
