chassis advice

Collected my e-bay bargain chassis today still can't believe I only paid £51 for it...Weld quality seems good but should be as the fabricator has his own company making architectural handrailing etc..

My question is this, He apparently was going the B.E. route....Obviously there is a couple of pieces missing at the front n/s.. I'm going the 2.8 V6 motor...Anyone who has done one of these can you tell me what needs removing from this chassis....
And what needs adding?? My second edition Haynes R.Chap.. book is not here yet and won't be for a couple of days...
cant seem to get the system to post the pic so I'll have to do it url: route

Looks like you've got a decent chassis there - whoever built it gave a lot of thought to extra triangulation. You couldn't buy the steel for £51!
The main areas you'll have to change would be the bottom of the engine bay - in the normal engine version there are 2 "G" tubes where the engine mounts fit (G1 & G2 - if you look at the book you'll see what I mean). If you cut out what you've got, put the chassis over your engine, and cut-and-fit the G tubes then you've done it.

Happy building!

David

A lot easier than starting with a pile of tubes but it looks like it will need a fair bit of work apart from the missing members I suspect the tunnel area will need re-engineered.
First thing to do is measure it up and compare with he book., then aquire an engine box and axle see what has to be reworked to make it them.

I figured it would be easier starting this way, I realise the tunnel is going to need major re-working.. When my book arrives I'll measure it to start see how dimensionally accurate it is..
I've made the decision to go RWD and not 4x4 as I think this would be an easier build in the long run...

ANY ONE LOOKING FOR E-BAY BARGAINS I CAN SUGGEST DOING A SEARCH ON LOW-COST AS WELL AS LOCOST AS THIS IS HOW MY CHASSIS HAD BEEN ADVERTISED!!!
