Large frame Locost ie. SV

Like alot of people I'm over 6 ft. (6'3" and 230 lb)
I cannot fit into a Lotus 7, and am hesitant to start construction on a Locost configured to Ron Champions specs as I have heard conflicting reports as to whether I would fit. Has anyone built a Locost to the dimension of the Caterham SV or the other larger Caterhams. If so, are the plans different, or is the Ron Champion designed modified? I am planning to use an MGB running gear and live in Toronto, Canada. Thanks for the help.

Toronto, thats where I'm gonna be tomorrow, on the first let of a 3 week snowboarding holiday

Have you looked into the mcsorley plans? There are designs for larger locosts on there www.mcsorley.net

I don't know how these compare with the caterham SV etc, but there's a +4 (width) and a +442 (4 inches wider, 4 inches longer and 2 inches higher)

Hope this helps
Mark

You should check out McSorley's website. http://www.mcsorley.net/

He has plans (under drawings) for a book chassis with 4 inches add to width and length and 2 inches to hieght. Its the same chassis i'm building (I have to my engine is 27 inches high!).

Good to see another Canadian here, I think 7's are gonna be popular here soon.

/edit damn, i'm too slow this morning!

MGB axle will cause problems for building a wider car it is narrow -- slightly narrower than the book Escort axle.

Don't forget that the Locost chassis is wider than the Caterham/Locost in the passenger compartment - it's far closer to the Westfield.
I can't drive a Caterham - the pedals are too close together for my big feet!!

XXL Locost

I know its not strictly locost but Tiger Racing now do what is generally reffered to as a FatCat that is wider in the beam. I bought just the chassis and body pack as i wanted to do everything else myself. It uses sierra mechanicals, there must be a sierra equiv in Canada i would think that uses the same or similar running gear? they also do a left hand version.

I agree...

Either Mc Sorley.

Or a Luego Viento.

My Son is 6ft 5", and I am 5ft 10". No Problems.

Plus it takes a nice mMMMMM V8, Its spec'd for most V8's, especially the small block version.

Luego Sportscars

Hmmm Why did I put the link on... they sponsor this site!
