Wishbone Positions
Can someone please explain exactly the position the top wishbone is in junction with the bottom one. I cannot seem to get the hub to lay back 5
degrees for the castor angle. has this got something to do with the position of tubes FU1/FU2.

The 'mythical' positions for FU1 & 2 eh??
The top has to be parallel with the bottom, but be set back toward the rear of the chassis to give a 5 degree angle from the vertical. It look me ages
- lots of tackin, moving and re-tacking of the FU's. Conrod came up with a good idea using a length of studding and two welded nuts, but I can't
explain it in writing!! I found that after lots of studying of the book it did dawn gradually.
Worth spending time on though, if you want the car to go straight and be self centering.

Yep, if you are building a 'standard' dimension chassis, then FU1/2 need to be inset from the top chassis rail by approx. 20mm (IIRC). This should
allow the wishbone brackets to be mounted parallel to the chassis centre line.
I know, I've been there myself too......

UnCanny!
I was just about to post the same question my self today.
I have book one and the diagrams are quite clear as regards the vertical positioning of the brackets and the positioning relative to the centreline
but give no clue whatsoever as to the relative position fore and aft.
Would your diagrams help Scutter, and if so can you e-mail them to me too.
