chassis build problems

I am new to locost building and I am experiencing some problems buildng a chassis as per the book (ron champion). ie some lengths of tubes, pictures different to actual build, and dimensions seem incorrect.
Any one have a corrected version from their own experience?
Also does anyone have a mark II Escort for sale?

There are a whole load of minor problems with the book! The main thing is getting the top and bottom rails square and after that it's a lot more flexible. My chassis has a few 'modifcations' (ie mistakes) from how Ron intended but nothing that will cause a problem.

My advice is just to go for it - it all becomes a whole lot clearer once you've got a few tubes in place and can see the thing in front of you rather than on paper.

Good luck!

Chris

Thanks for responding so quickly Chris.
I am at the transmission stage of my building and the books measurements are rather vague. I am nearly at the stage of fuly weding so any tips you can give me would be enormously helpful.
PS. Still looking for a Mk II Escort
Cheers

this is late i know but it may help someone else. I have just fitted the transmission tunnel and followed the plan for the bottom rails as laid out in 2nd editition not sure if first is the same as misses stole it (not yet proven)these plans do contradict them selves so I mirrored the top rails of the tunnel to those in the bottom rails and where the book states the point for the rear verticals I judged this to be in error and set the verticals at the point where tunnel is widened to save problems with fitting the panels later hope this helps someone

I built the basic chassis, dropped my engine and back axle in it and built around it. The dimensions of the book chassis are not set in stone, its you car, build it your way. If you look carefully in the book youll see that there are many differing chassis .
