1st stage.....

After hovering about the site for a bit i've finally registered so here goes my first post....

My chassis (to start build next summer:

Would like wide/longer body, IRS and staying as close as possible to 'classic' look- high nosecone, no bonnet/scuttle bulge and curved rollcage.

Like the look of a Viento, but it seems a bit too lardy and the idea is that it's a lightweight car isn't it?

Have the potential to make my own chassis according to Ron's book (is that "the book?" and extending it myself, but this is not ideal just yet due to lack of time/space

Does anyone know how the other companies stack up on rigidity and weight, plus general customer service etc?

And another thing- any benefits with a round tubular chassis. If so, any designs/drawings available?

Any help appreciated

Jon

Not unles Jay Kay's real name is Jon which it's not, it's Jason.

Anyway back to the point... isn't there one of the manufacturers offering a wider bodied chassis for sale these days or did I imagine that?

Round tube: Unless you build your own (which you seem to not favour) there's no benefit However I don't believe there is much benefit in using round tube anyway. The Cons outweigh the Pros I think you'll find like "it being a bitch to weld around as opposed to on the flat parts of RHS".

I'm sure others will share their opinions on that anyway.

Oh and welcome!
