McSorley 442 chassis, dimension errors?

Is anyone building or have built, a chassis to the McSorley 442 plans?

Maybe I have just lost the plot entirely (nothing unusual) but the dimensions for the "rear bulkhead side rail layout" section, specifically the measurement for "M2", the starting point on the bottom rail for "K2" and the overall height shown for "k2" & "K4" combined with the resultant angle of "40deg" do not appear possible (to me anyway)
While they are not miles away it would be good to know if anyone else has found this and if so does it matter?
Or have I just been inhaling too many welding fumes this week

Anyway, confirmation, one way or another, of any of the above ramblings, would be appreciated.

Cheers

Alex

I have mine built using the sizes from mc sorely and can't recall any specific problems.
How far out do you think the sizes are and i'll check after teatime's past.

Basically, all the plan dimensions I have dead on, apart from the angle of "k2" and the length of "m2"

M2 is approx 235 instead of 257, and while I could have made it the correct length, doing so would have thrown its position out from the rear of the chassis

Anyway, I figured its position on the chassis rail was more important than it's length (right? wrong?) to allow the axle to be located using the correct length trailing arms.

Any help/ideas appreciated.

Cheers

Alex
PS
Every other dimension I can measure is accurate to within 1-2mm, including front to rear and diagonally!

I had the same problem. I scratched my head, measured and remeasured a dozen times. I could only assume the plans must have been off or I was really missing something. I wound up just cutting them custom length to 'fix' the problem.

Also to note, I made sure the position of the uprights were in the correct location for the axle placement.

fwiw, I did axle mockup placement today:

I measured mines up and could find no discreppancies (sp) but from your sizes although approximate you are very close to 25mm of difference which is the thickness of a tube. So check that you are not measuring to the wrong edge of the tube and that all your tube placements are correct.
The distance along A2 is to the front edge of M2 and not the back edge. It looks like this could be where you've went wrong. It also seems to come out perfect drawing it in autocad as well. Let us know how you get on cause I hope I'm not wrong

While I have Autocad, I'll be damned if have ever managed to figure out how to use it properly

I have just drawn the rear dimensions on a board to scale (pencil and square!) and get the same result!
But its getting late so I'll have another look tomorrow, possibly making the same mistake again

Thanks for looking though

Cheers

Bah I wouldn't be surprised if I made an error.. wouldn't be the first. However, I believe as long as everything else falls into place and suspension points all fall into the right place you're okay. I am feeling pretty good about it all at the moment.

Damn, my fault, sorry
I measured from the wrong side of "H" meaning I was 25mm long everywhere rearward of H, which meant I had to pull "m2" 25mm back (and therefore shorten it) to get the distance correct..Dooooh.

Now welded, once and for all (I hope).

As I said, I've been inhaling too many welding fumes recently

Sorry about the confusion, I'm sure someone on here said "measure 100 times and weld once" I'll try to do that next time

Cheers
