YES!

One of the early ones, when the IRS was still in development.

Massively over engineered and heavy thing (the build manual at the time called for 10swg tube if you were fitting a V8!!)

quite simple and straightforward, but the only things you need to look out for is to drill the lower shock holes in the frame tubes BEFORE you weld them in (the manual neglected to mention this until much later), and the tubes that form the uprights towards the front bulkhead are compund cuts, so are a complete sod to get right.

Oh yes indeed!
When I was looking round I was quoted around £900 for the chassis, So I went to the local steel stockholders, and ordered the lot, which was delivered to my door for £88!!
My F27 is the widebody live axle one, but I have the plans for all of them. I have a load of digital photos on disc of two peoples builds , with some great chassis build up shots.
It will certainly take a lot longer to fabricate your own chassis , but its a fantastic feeling when you turn round and say " I built it from scratch!!! ",
Make sure you get a decent hacksaw though , and buy the best blades!!!
let me know if you decide to fabricate your own, and give me a shout when ( not if! ) you hit a snag!!
