B*lls I've measuerd wrong
I've just put together my first bottom wishbone and was well chuffed with it. The welding was nice and flat and even. The bone did not warp or
twist and I spent a bit of time on it. BUT I've fcuked up on the measurement between the eye bushes. I've made the
centre of the tube ends the same as the outside of the eye bushes (I know I know measure twice etc etc). As the eye bushes are not yet fitted, and as
I've got all the stuff cut but not welded for the second bone, and the fact that I'm going to be very busy at work for the next couple of
months, do I
1 Use a hydraulic bender to put a slight kink into each arm to make them fit. (troubled thoughts about safety)
2 Make up a new jig and start from scratch
3 Buy a set of bones but who from?
I'd quite like to buy a set of bottom bomes for the time factor but no one seems to be replying to me emails about buying bushes from them so
I'm reluctant to place an order with any off them.
I've emailed quite a few ,and the only reply has been from rally design. After a chat at autsport I've half an idea now where they get them
from (delivery is not there speciality) and wondered if any one else had bought from rally design and what the delivery times were like.
In all Ireckon I've invested about 6 hours on the one bone plus materials for the second and don't really want to bin them if possible.
What's everyones opinion on my thoughts.
PS if I buy a set I'll also need maxi ball joints and I've already got a set of new tinas.

Wishbone jig
If you want you can borrow my jig. It's designed for book bones with poly bushes, off the top of my head I think the bush tubes were 1".
Going off shore tomorrow so you'd have to collect from Fife.

Thanks for the offer daviep but my jig would be the easiest thing to alter. It's the cutting of new b/joint plates and strengtheners that take
up the time.

The GTS wishbones are very well made. I noticed at Autosport that Rally Design are selling GTS parts, including the whole W7DE package.

Well i've already emailed mk and got no reply and I did see the gts gear on th rallydesign stand and the guy did say where it came from which is
why I wondered about delivery times. I also wondered if they were wide track items as well. Think I'll give them a bell tommorrow.

Thinking 'outside of the box'
How about moving your wishbone brackets to suit?

Thanks for all the replies folks. Interesting that no one comented on putting a small bend in the tubes to bring them in to the size required.
Mix my brackets are already mass welded in place so that'd me work than making a new bone.
I'm 90% sure I'm going to make a new on now as I'd always intended to. Also after having an afternoons shopping to think about it,
the questions of bushes (and there sizes) and whether the bones would fit my mounts etc etc, Also the fact that none of the kit builders I emailed
,apart from rally design (top marks), have contacted me back so why should I spend my money with them?

You could cut a slot down the gusset plate next to the tube, then bend
the tube at the base of the slot, then weld up the cut (full pen, both sides).
Grind off top weld. Underside dosn't show.
This way the slight bend in the tube would not be at the stress point.

Don't bend them
Only real problem with the wider spacing is getting enough caster, the front mounting can't move forward so the rear must move back. to Counter
this the top wishbone will have to move back by the ammount of error as will the steering rack.

Not wishing to teach anyone to suck eggs, but surely it's not that difficult to cut off the existing brackets, grind flat and re-attach new
ones? Or even worst case cut out FU tubes and re-apply.
Sorry if I've missed the point

Don't worry Mix I won't take offence.
The trouble is that if I do that as an earlier post says the castor will be all to pot and I'll have to make new top bones as well. Also
the coil overs would need to move back as well and would then foul on the top bones possibly. I've Settled down now from this morning and sense
is telling me to make new bottom bones because I know I won't be happy with a lash up job. Hey Ho you live and learn but thanks for all the
replies folks.

MK Engineering had to put a kink in mine to get them to fit my brackets.

Best way of getting in touch with them is to phone Martin himself (don't phone MK by mistake).
Volvorsport made my lovely top bones - he may be able to help with your lower ones???

I may be talking out of my ar$e but if you bend the bones to make them fit won't you change the alignment of the bushes?
(besides any stress problems)
