Things beginning to start
Just thought I would post to tell of my luck.
There's a new guy just started with us at work..
and he's only a blooming qualified welder. Says
he will help me whenever I need it..lucky or what
So...got my MDF yesterday, got my welder (20%off)
And got some steel.
Here it begins

Excellent - I really enjoyed making the chassis - pile of steel to something that resembles a car in a few short days/weeks.
Check out the top tips in Locost related - lots of good stuff....
and bolt down the bottom chassis rails b4 u weld!

Seconded, here's a picture of what I did, the table was made by me, it's a little over a metre high, which while high for a normal table, is a
comfortable height to weld at when standing up. The clamps are held down by studding which goes through the table, the right angle sections are held
down by 6mm coach bolts. One very satisfying thing was taking the base of my chassis out of the jig once I'd fully welded it, turning it over and
putting back in the jig the other way up no problems.
