Toyo Proxe T1-R Tyres Any good?
HI guys,
What do people think of the Toyo proxe t1r tyres?
My wheels are funny sizes F 195/50/15 R225/46/16 off a lotus 340r. Most tyres for this come in at £500 per set. I am looking at Yoko A048s and toyo
r888s though.
Proxes would set me back £268 fitted, so I would just like peoples views on them really.

Hi,
I have bought Proxes for my Locost and they came very highly recommended by more than one person, a couple of whom are track racers. Unfortunately my
car isn't finished yet so all I can say is that they look good and certainly feel "stickier" to the touch than the tyres on my other
vehicles. Mine are 195/55 15 size and were just over £40 each delivered - very reasonable in my opinion.
Cheers,
Craig.

My current "tyre of the moment" has to be the Bridgestone Potenza Re720, in that size £180 for 4 fitted and balanced, and outperforms
anything that I have yet tried that is road legal in terms of overall performance (including wet as part of that)
Anyhoo tho, the three folks using these on my recommendation are chuffed with em, but then tyres are quite difficult to recommend as different people
have different ideas!

Also beware of recommedations based on people's experience of a tyre on a tin top. A tyre will perform very differently on a 1500kg sports
saloon compared to a 500kg locost.

Good point, my experience with the Bridgestones is all on tintops, lightish ones (Pug gti, Manta etc) but still double a locost I suppose!

I'm more than happy with Bridgestone Potenzas on my 'rather light' car.

Thanks Paul, they seem like good value on tyretraders.

I can find the potenzas for my front wheels but not the backs.
The Toyo 888s at £382 seems good value but when you factor in having to go to birmingham and then the fittings costs it makes them expensive.
Black circles do toyo r888s at £468 fitted, but are they £200 better than the toyo proxes?

i don't know what you drive, but for £90, i'd collect them.
infact, for £85, i'll collect them, then deliver them to yours
fitting should only be £30 ish if you got it done at kwik-fit. the local places are significantly cheaper.
r888's are awesome! they're so sticky they pick up paper in car parks.

All depends on what you are going to use the car for, 888's are that soft they are not going to last, brilliant track day tyre, but some what
wasted on the road.
Personally i would look into t1r, potenza 720's or even yoko a539's, if they are just for road use.

I've heard only good things about T1-Rs, I'd have them on my mx-5 if they did them in the right size. as it is, I just put on Eagle F1
GS-D2's.

I have T1-Rs fitted to my wife's MX5.
Fantastic tyre, very progressive. there is no sudden snap as you lose traction but loads of feedback, perfect road tyre.
The only experience I have of the R888s is my 1400kg evo on a trackday and they were god awful. Fantastic on lap one but went off so quickly
afterwards. On a lightweight car I think they'd be awesome though.
