Donor Car
Hi,
Has anyone out there built a Locost using the BMW 320i as the donor? I'm new to this game & would appreciate all the help I can get,
especially from those who have knowledge of using the above vehicle for their project.
Yours in anticipation............James

Hi, I'm new at this game as well, having just aquired a rolling chassis. I have a spare 318 M40 engine and box which I considered using, but it
seems quite tall, and extremely wide because of the canted over arangement. Distributor sticks out a long way as well. The 320 six pot is also a lot
longer and much heavier. I suppose if the chassis was enlarged to suit it would be OK. Gear lever extension would be easy to make at least. 325 same
size and weight with more power and torque. Diff would be ideal with IRS set up. Possibly could use rear trailing arms and hubs as well with a
suitably adapted chassis but might give interesting handling if you lift off in the middle of a corner.

Well... you can always make it fit. But the further away you get from the intended parts means you'll be doing more and more of the design and
work yourself. Some people don't mind that, some do. It all depends how much "thinking work" you want to do yourself, as opposed
to simply following directions of a know solution.
