could anyone tell me what is the most popular steering rack used in locosts. i have been looking at volvos, fords and bmw.

I would have a look at an Escort quick rack. These are available together with mounts and bushes from Rally Design who also supply a universal joint
that will fit straight on. Splined bar is available from several suppliers including Stuart Taylor and DJ Sportscars. Hope this helps.

Escort rack is by far the most common closely folloewd by the Sierra.
The quick rack is good but go for the 2.9 as the 2.4 is a bit too quick, ok for racing but a little twicthy for road use.
