A slightly odd request
Hiya all,
I realise this is a slightly odd request and I also realise that this might not be the right place for it... but it seemed as good as any.
If any of you have a 10 inch.... or even 1 inch (and I'll do the math) length of rhs mild steel tubing could you wiegh it for me and let me know
what it weighs.
Thanks in advance.

You didn't provide enough information to get a useful answer. Is this material hollow? If so, how thick are the walls?
You know you can find what it weighs using Google...
Mid-engine Locost - http://www.midlana.com
And the book - http://www.lulu.com/shop/kurt-bilinski/midlana/paperback/product-21330662.html
Kimini - a tube-frame, carbon shell, Honda Prelude VTEC mid-engine Mini: http://www.kimini.com

steel is .2833 lbs/in^3 so a 1x1x.063 wall is 12*4*.063*.2833 lbs/ft

RHS = Rectangular Hollow Section.
but you are right I should have said the sizes and wall thickness.
25mm x 25mm x 1.5mm

...except that presumably it's the outside dimensions that are 1", so only 2 sides will be 1" - the other 2 will each be 1" -
(2x the thickness)?
If the rest of the formula is correct, then it will be 12*(2+2*0.874)*.063*.2833 lbs/ft

Metal Supermarkets have 1"x1"x0.065" which they suggest is 0.827 lb/ft
