track widths

Hi all, what's the ideal for front and rear track widths should they be the same or should one be wider/narrower?

I had a look around and normally the front track is about 25mm shorter but then I noticed they used wider rear tyres.

Thanks

It depends on a great many other factors. Many have wider rear... some suprising cars have wider front.

A few more details of what you're actually building might help!

Cheers,
James

its mid engine with a blackbird engine it did have a fuel tank in the front but now decided to reposition it to the rear so taking the time to reposition the wishbone mounts so reduce the wheel base.

At the moment the front track is about 6" shorter than the rear so as its all change time at the front looking for advice on changing the front track if it helps at all.

Hi Jools

How's it coming on?

Is it still in Martin's?

Hoping to get my single seater back there soon to lighten the rear body and get the air intake made up.

Regards

Wyn

Hi Wyn, nice to hear your making progress I had the car back from Martins a while back.

I am currently reducing the wheel base of the car and making it about 400mm shorter so I am looking into front track widths and seeing if I should make the front the same as the rear?

Let me know when your in Lys-y-fran.

Jools
