hi where do i find the chassis number on a 1969 ford escort mk1

on the chassis plate, or under the carpet near the drivers door, or on the V5

They was stamped on the strut top mount (on the inner wing)...
But i expect as per the norm it has had a (few!) replacement's in it's time
i think it was drivers side they was stamped on the number was started and ended with a star ??iirc

If it doesn't fit MODIFY it!!

In the Mk1 it was stamped on the inner wing around the top suspension mount.

IIRC it was on the offside wing.

Of course this is purely academical, as that part of the car has most likely been replaced a long time ago.

thanks everyone thought as much the car has had the top of the struts welded more than once by the look of it and not very well done
