chassis design

hi ive been thinking of building my own chassis to my own design. but when it comes to the sva do they have to test your chassis first or do they test it as a whole. or what do you need to do to make it road legal. what tests did the locost chassis get to make it road legal
does it have to go through things like crash testing or anything like that thanks adam
soz about all the qs thanks adam

No crash testing at all !
They just do a visual inspection to check quality of welding and seat belt mounts etc.

here all we have is obtuse, angry, bored old ba***rds who think they know better just because they are "professionals", constantly reminding you that you're a worthless, cocky little git trying to make your own chassis.
