A little advice!

I tend to worry about things always wanting to do things the correct way however in this case I have probably not done the coreect thing. Many moons ago at the beginning of my build I was putting the driverside tunnel panel on and measure one of the rivet position incorrectly and drilled a hole but missed the lower tunnel tube. I went through the ally panel and nicked the top of the tube. It did not go through the tube just put a small radius in the top edge. It is about an inch away from the gearbox mount. Not wanting to spoil my nice new paintwork on the chassis I touched up the tube and finished fitting the panels. I have already strengthend the gearbox mount and the floor mounts for the seats before I painted the chassis. It is the lower tunnel tube and I don't think the damage warrants drilling the panel off and causing more damage etc......

What do you think? I know a daft question but I don't want to do any unecessary work!

The chassis is an early Velocity XT chassis and seems to be made pretty strong.

so its a little chunk out the tube, but not all the way through? can you get in there at all with the welder just to fill it back in? or seam weld some right angle steel over the damage, and do it on both sides so it looks like strenghening?

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

no I'd have to take the inner panel off and/or take the engine and gearbox out!

I wouldn't worry about it doesn't sound like it will cause a problem
I've got unused holes in various places from changing engines a various different things over the last few years so a little nick out of a tunnel rail isn't going to be a problem!
You could always post a picture if you can get a camera in to take a photo! let us have a look if you need the reassurance its ok
