chassis plans?
hi all, does anyone know where i can find detailed ( some simple that an idiot like me can follow ), but easey to read plans of chris's chassis
( sierra based ), call me stupid but they seem complicated in the book, the escort based one seems alot easier to follow to me, i remember seeing a
blog on here about them, but sods law, i cant find them, i have no problem paying for this if it gets me building sooner.
cheers
mark

these are considered the best starting point for an original book chassis, or you could go with Chris Gibbs Book and the haynes roadster

Check out the Chris Gibbs book How to build a sports car on a budget? Believe there is a website , look for Haynes Roadster?

I'm presuming that Chris's chassis refers to the Haynes Roadster?
If so I would look at the plans some more. Although the structure as a whole looks complex it is little more complicated than the locost original
chassis. It is basically just two layers forming the outline shapes seperated by upright tubes.
The rear end is similarly just built up in layers. It's probably more difficult to visualise it than to do it.
If you are looking at doing a Haynes Roadster type chassis make sure you refer to the forum as linked to in one of the previous posts as there are a
few dimensional mistakes in the book which are highlighted and amended on the site.
There are quite a few people fairly well on with them now who will be more than happy to answer any specific queries.

Why not just buy the chassis, save some time and hassel?
