rear end axle

Has anybody fitted a sierra axle to their car? What are the modifications?

Jason,

Quite simply - lots.

I originally intended to use entire Sierra IRS (being subframe, diff, drivsehafts, trailing arms etc)but decided that it would involve too much hacking around of chassis, and (subframe) would encroach too much into floor area.

I've just made some rear wishbones, mounted the diff directly to the chassis, and am about to make up some rear hub carriers (for spring and wishbones to bolt to).

All I can suggest is think about what you are doing, measure careful, do yourself diagrams etc, and if you're lucky, you'll succeed.

Hope this helps

ATB

Hi
Martin Dunn in conjunction with MK Eng has a very good set of drawings for using the de dion axle and drive shafts on his CD Rom and is worth buying if you are stuck for ideas as there is a lot of other info on there as well Have a look on the Locost car club site lots of goodies on there
