Most Devious ways to grenade an engine.
We discuss this in work all the time.
My favourite is a ball bearing down each cylinder. Though not particularly quick to do.
I think in the states the authorities run the engines f confiscated car with some sort of resin until they stop

What about replacing the oil with some kind of liquid which sets when it reaches the right temperature?

A grenade in the engine bay and a piece of string attached to the pin and the other end attached to a solid object.
Drive off and BOOM

By grenade do you mean knacker?
Aliminium oxide grinding powder down the dip tube?
Otherwise a piano TG vs. Marina stylee does the job.

pull of a water hose. Nobody would notice that in a normal car. Untill the warning light comes on that is!
Track days ARE the best thing since sliced bread, until I get a supercharger that is!

what's that going to do? Unless you leave it for a long time and your engine goes all rusty? Water injection is used on boosted engines (okay,
it's not stuck in the blooming tank but the principles the same)...

Yup- my mate found someone had slashed the lower radiator hose on his work van (presumably to follow him and do him over a little up the road-
he's a jeweller). Nasty- the light won't come on because that's normally bathed in the coolant. No coolant- no heat transmission,
first thing you know is the engine seizing....

What are you looking for exactly? Rapid violent destruction, slow but stealthy, or artistic impression? I'd say chucking a load of sand/gravel
in the intake might be good for the first, some sort of coolant system sabotage (slash a hose) or fuel/oil contamination for the second, and
I'll need more time to think of something interesting for the third

That is one insane piece of legislation.
And I thought scrappage was nuts.
Actually writing into the legislation that they have to wreck the engine is just bizarre.

replace the oil with watered down grinding paste and rev it to the max ubtil pop.
Feed the inlet with propane, and replace the fuel with alcohol.
Kindest Regards,
Richard.

The big car companies wrote the legislation (via their bought congressmen and lobby groups). Makes a lot of sense for them.

How about a load of polystyrene beads down the inlet? Most would burn, but it'd make a very sticky mess inside.

I'd say it is a good thing getting rid of those (mostly american V8 gas guzzling....) monstrosities.
Even if you belong to those who oppose the theory that we as humans are causing global warming, you must agree that we are using up oil at an alarming
rate and that the oil that is still there is in increasingly unfriendly places.
Middle-East, anyone?...

Trying to remember what Mythbusters did... I think it was bleach in the oil, still ran though (like a sack of s**t)
If you want something quick swap the petrol/diesel and for artistic make the throttle cable a little sticky
