seat space

The reason I wanted to do a +442 is that I was worried about the amount of seat space available in a book chassis. I am abig guy!

My question is this, if i did a book chassis but de dion tube rear axle, could i reduce the size of the transmission tunnel (drive shaft won't be moving) to free up some seat inches?

I can't see any problems with this, any strength lost could be compensated for.

I plan to use sierra and am aware of track issues.
