of attention and questions like "oh, your making a boat!" and im sick of "when will it be on the road?" and "do you think them rails are strong
enough?" whatever stage your build , do you get asked sily questions?

The one comment that annoys me is "Oh, you're building a kit car"....
..."No, there is no kit, I'm cutting the chassis from lengths of steel .. ."
"So, what kit is it?"
"No . .. it's not a kit car. . .."

Yeah, people really can't seem to get their heads around not assembling a kit but building it from scratch. I have to explain I'm actually welding
the chassis together myself almost every time!

The one that annoys me is...
'Why are you using a BMW engine and not a Ford or bike engine?'
Why not be different is what I'm yet to hear a satisfactory argument against

Exactly, nutsack to the norm.
I'm trying to think of a half decent name to call the car.
I personally don't like 'Locost'.
Makes it sounds cheap and nasty to a lot of people. Can't be having that....

well, anyone with a bike engined car if you follow your logic :
1. is built by the japanese that used brit slave labour in the war
2. jap bike parts have NEVER been cheap!!!!!
btw - i have noting against the japs - nice people and been there 4 times. The guys who set their spares prices and design nissans are exceptions

I don't class any of them as a satisfactory argument anyway.
Name a cheaply accessible 3.5 that isn't heavy?
It's got a decent standard power and torque output of 218 and 229 respectively.
Get them out of a bike or x flow engine with the same money.
Fuel guzzler... Who gives a f*ck? It's a sportscar isn't it? I ain't building no diesel 55-60mpg thing.
Expensive for parts... Maybe, but if you need the stuff you buy it whatever?
Built by Nazis...
Wrong decade, stupid argument.
So there.

Hey hippy,
cant you wait 30 or 40 years, and use an Iraqi engine.............
apparently it would be nuclear powered
on a serious note - make sure you have a decent sized fule tank!

Already thought of that one mate.
I was talking to Bob about it and I decided it would be great fun for 10 minutes at a time until the tank ran dry.
I reckon 15mpg is a fair estimate if we're caning it. 25-30 if we're being lightfooted and cruising (which is more likely gonna be how it's driven
most).
Obviously we'd have to unleash the roar every now and again as we pass old ladies on the pavement...

Mr Johnston
You are a man after my own heart. As soon as these poor fools start to realise that buying German and Japenese has led to the wholesale destruction of
our industries the sooner they will wake up and smell the tea (not coffee). Be patriotic, if you want a BEC at least put a Triumph engine in it!
Either that or go the whole hog and fu*k of to Germany or Japan whichever your allegiences lie and build your car there!!!

A Rover V8 with a Weber carb and cam change will get close to that, a 3.9 version will better those figures

You see. All that jap crap you have there (apart from the helmet, they're great) it's the likes of you that has killed off our great Industrial
production (ex bitter british steel worker here) and contributed to the demise of our once great country, England. (Note, this does not include
Scotland, Ireland or Wales).
BTW he Italians capitulated to the germans before they were conquered, they never invaded anyone! Anyhoo they can be forgiven for producing articles
of automotive sculpture (ferrari, Lamborghini et.al.).BTW if I was to fit a Jap engine then I would be right and the others would be wrong, It's
called selective bigotry, as you'll find out if you're coming to Donnington (bring beer and meat). Hope you're not allergic to sarcasm!

Mr Interested Party person...
Maybe a Rover V8 WILL get close to it or better it with the right treatment. So?
I take you back to my point about cost. I'm getting them as standard, not spending bucketloads getting there.
As for the 3.9 outdoing the figures...
No kidding, it's a bigger engine.

Fancy that, the sneaky buggers, don't worry its on the bonfire as we speak.
Anyhow iv'e decided to go the "twin" engine route...... i.e Norton 650. there, ya can't get no more british than that!
At least oil surge wont be a problem seeing as how most of it will end up on the garage floor

Oi - PTM!!
'Oo tort U 'istory? I'm just old enough to recall that the Ities invaded a British ally, namely Ethiopa (somewhere around 1940/41??).
And if I were building a JBA Falcon, I'd certainly be looking at a 325, or similar 6cyl donor, & bugger who built 'em (because by then its too late
to worry).
