Chassis Drawings Help
Hi Guys
I want to build a car based on the standard Vitara Chassis with a triangulated frame /roll cage welded or bolted on.I usually just chalk on garage
floor but I would like to design in computer this time.
Does anyone have advice on CAD programs Where can I obtain digital Vitara chassis drawing? any ideas.
Car would be Locost type with bulkhead to rear of gearbox, cycle mud guards etc.Could be used as track day car or off roader just by playing with
springs/shocks/tyres. Front diff and shafts could be removed temporarily to save weight and improve handling ideal fun car.
Second question sorry will it affect the need for IVA how new members are mounted on chassis Weld or bolt position of mounts can I remove standard out
riggers etc

You can download Sketchup from Google FOC, as a 3D drawing aid.
You will probably struggle to find any Vitara chassis drawings, and I think the end product can retain the same reg. number as it is only a re-body.

Thanks for that designer looks a great bit of software will be playing with that all evening.
As anyone any ideas on second question it would obviously be stiffer and lighter if I can weld new frame on but would this be thought of as modifying
chassis

Thanks designer that's all v interesting the NCF chassis is the basic principle I envisaged but it is big and heavy just replace the rusty bits
on a Vit.
I want to produce a light 2 seater the added frame being the minimum for a roll cage and some triangulation I realise there is a severe weight penalty
using standard chassis so it would be nice to weld on and shave outriggers and overhangs etc. Do you know how that would affect IVA.
I read trike threads with interest I used to be race engineer in Brit F3 unfortunately my expertise was engine building and running ECU trackside so
not really able to add anything usefull

There does not seem to be much weight to be saved; not many outriggers to cut off!

Thanks designer that is a big help I have also found a dimensioned non scale drawing I will go away and play with software and see if I can produce
some drawings of my ideas.
I want to build a car that can be used off road in mud ,as a circuit track day car and on the road simply by swapping tyres,springs. The Vitara design
allows the temporary removal of the front diff and shafts to improve handling and performance.Self supporting front wheel bearing design!
If I can make it a simple bolt on kit we could have a few built locally and promote a local race series covering racing hill climbing off road
competitions rallying. This means safety has to be designed in from beginning roll cage spec etc but all that is possible still want to keep design
simple of course.There are venues all around me here underused which can be hired quite cheaply I ran a grass banger series a few years ago so still
have some insurance contacts.
Thought of a narrow body cateram type building off main chassis rails.
I would like to keep IVA free so will have to do more research on what would be allowed with chassis mods
I don't want to be a manufacturer so a local group building their own but holding hands perhaps through a website so we get a formula.What do
you think?

Come to think of it there isn't any form of amateur motor sport it wouldn't work in drifting, sprinting, drag racing, auto tests,caravan
