3D Model Library?
Hello Everyone!
Please bear with me, as this is my first post here. Apologies if it is in the wrong section.
A work Colleague and me are modelling up a Locost in 3D using Solidworks. With the intention to build two. (one XE engined, and one crossflow).
The chassis frame is simple enough, and most of the body panels are fairly straight forward, but I'm having some problems with the engine,
transmission, and rear axle.
I havent got round to sourcing any of the required running gear just yet, so it is difficult for me to draw up the components, as very little
dimensional data is available.
Does anyone know of a Library of components where I can find out more information on the following...
Ford Escort mk2 Rear axle - as per locost book.
Sierra rear diff (independent rear suspension) drive shafts and rear hubs if possible.
Crossflow engine
Vauxhall XE Engine
I am not expecting to find 3D models of these components, but some 2D drawings would be a big step forward compared to what I've got now!
Also, has anyone actually modelled a complete locost in 3D? If so, with what CAD system, and where did you get your information from?
Your help is much appreciated.
Chris Green.

try posting this under the chassis section or donor parts sections or running gear/engine (not all of the above!) there have been dimensions given for
engine and gearboxes etc in the past - try a search of the site, might help..
Ned.
beware, I've got yellow skin

oh, ok. cheers ned.
I posted it originally in the engines / transmission section, but then thought it should go here!
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
Regards,
Chris.

Inboard Dampers
Chris:
I have BobC's rear suspension design but with the inboard dampers. If you are sane, I think you should use his.
I also have the front suspension design using pushrod/rocker suspension. But again, BobC's design would be much easier and would get you rolling
in a very good way.
I can send you mine stuff if you would like, but they are large files. All mine are in SW 04 and use MX-5 bits.
You can see a sample in my archive

Thank you everyone who has replied.
The only other components I would like are the following...
Pinto 2.0 Engine
CVH Engine (are they all the same?)
I doubt I will find 3D models of these, but does anyone have any sketches?
Thanks a lot.
Chris.

Can I have simple, plain Autocad R14 2D dwgs of the above (sierra 7" diff & mx5 rear upright, flange & wheel)?

Edit that, I no longer require a CVH drawing. Just a pinto if possible.
thanks

JC - I can send you "edrawings" which you can view with a free download from solidworks & get measurements off - will that do? I
don't think I can convert to autocad.
cheers

Although I never worked with Soliworks I'll have a try.
Please send them along to:

Bob, could you not output the edrawings as exe's and not eprt's? or would the files be too large?
ok, one other request, along with the pinto engine, I would like a drawing or sketch of the Sierra front uprights, and Sierra Rear Uprights.
has anyone got any sketches?
Thanks,
Chris.
