MK2 Escort Uprights on a Locost?
I'm just about to start my build. I plan to build my own chassis but purchase front and rear suspension wishbones and links.
Does anyone know of a supplier that sells front wishbones that take MK2 Escort uprights (with inserts) instead of the usual cortina uprights?
Thanks in advance.

As far as I remember, the escort upright is integral with the stub axle, so there is nowhere to put an insert, and so they are not useable
If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation

Unless you machine it out and weld in an insert, but why bother when there are still plenty of Cortina ones about, or Sierra ones.

Sylva used to use a modified Escort strut for their fronts, it may have been on the Stryker. Try looking for something on them.
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

someone done it cant remember who looks like its a 405/406 bottom ball jiont screwed into a threaded insert thats welded into the cut down strut
tube.
means the toparm needs a taper to accept a joint but dont look hard to get made up

Simplest DIY method I have seen is to cut down the strut tube and weld a flange to take a maxi ball joint. No tricky thread cutting to do then.

Gary,
Do you know the effect on suspension geometry of using these uprights?
I don't know much about it but I know that for the cost of a set of Cortina uprights (about 75 quid) I wouldn't risk fu$%ing up the
handling of a car I spent a few grand and a couple of years building!
Sylva and Dutton may have used them but they may not use the same length wishbones. If you change wishbone lengths as well then you're asking
for a world of pain....
Just use a Cortina as your donor car and you've got everything!
All the best,
James
