Bulkhead Plate
Hi Guys,
Looking at fitting these to my Haynes build.
http://www.obpltd.com/Pedal-Boxes/Kit-Car-Motorsports/Kit-Car-Economy/Kit-Car-Cable-Clutch-Pedal-Box-OBPKC011
I am planning on using ally for the floor, the pedal box boted down in to places under pedals with M8 bolts and large washers.
On the bulkhead planning on mounting in two places with M8 bolts and large washers,
Any issues ?
What thickness of bulkhead plate would you use, I was thinking 1.6 steel
Looking at the pedal box design, most the force should be distrubeted againt the bulkhead acroos the whole back face of the pedal box?
Cheers,
All

My bulkhead plate is 3mm and fully welded to the chassis, I have the same pedal box and have mounted it to the plate with 2 x M8 bolts. It is solid,
if you look at my build diary you will see the cutouts for the master cylinders.
If it ain't broken, fix it anyway (just because).

Hi ya,
Is 3mm a bit to thick? I am thinking of weight?

Possibly, I was just thinking of protection for my feet

Hi Again,
How did you seal around your master cylinders?
I am contimplating if I should cut bulk hear around the cylinders or mount the cyliders on the outside of the bulkhead if plat is 1.6mm etc.

I cut the holes so the master cylinders pop through and are a good fit, the pedal box back plate covers any slight gaps. I would suggest that trying
to assemble the master cylinders and pedal box through the bulkhead would be a conplete pain in the ass as it is bad enough getting it set up on the
bench before mounting in place.

Hi ya,
I am doing it all in CAD so I am at the moment working at 0.5mm tolerance everywhere lol
Did you need to seal around the cylinders? What did you use?

Seal what? The master cylinders to the bulkhead? As I said in my previous post, once the pedal box is tight up against the bulkhead (bolted to) there
are no gaps.

Hi ya,
I was thinking that it's not a perfect seal around the edge of the bulkhead plate around the cylinders? I am using seam sealant on every joint
to ensure no rust bleed through etc,

Post a photo of your pedal box in position as I am not understanding your issue?

If sealing the master cylinders to the bulkhead is a concern to you, make neoprene gaskets for them.
Simple & tidy, way better than seam sealer.

Yeah fab idea!!!
On another note, according to the fitting guide for the pedal box, it says to drill a hole 75mm from the brake cylinder for the clutch cable. This
would be inside the box section that runs to the front. Did you guys have this issue?

No, mine is a hydraulic clutch

Hi ya,
Yeah I was thinking that. What have you planned for the clutch part?
