Is ss ok for wishbones ?
I bought my wishbones ready made at the start of my project, from a guy who was selling up. They are very well made (all tig welded) and was told they
came from a reputable manufacture in Yorkshire
Question they are made of Stainless steel will they be up to the job of an enthusiastic drive on a zetec powered car or should I swap them out for
steel ones?

The material itself should be fine, assuming its 304 or 316 or the like.
TIG welding... Well, they look great, and IF the welding has penetrated properly, they SHOULD be fine.
Any pro TIG welders around here??

As a second thought, TIG welded parts are used extensively on Aero engines (mainly jet engine nozzles etc), and for that matter throughout
aircraft.
The only thing that makes me suspicious is that its just different from the norm...

type 907 is using stainless for everything, but then that's his job and he knows his onions.
I might be a bit skeptical of stainless bones if I didn't know exactly what they were made out of, but then I don't know enough to be sure
they'd be ok.
maybe that's my point.

Hicost has had the same stainless wishbones for years. With 430BHP and 40,000miles on the clock including 5000 around the wonderful roads of Morocco I
imagine they're up to the job!
Might be worth a u2u to find out what grade stainless his are made of to see if yours is the same stuff.
Cheers,
James

Ta , more than happy with the quality ,so I will assume they are made of the correct stuff.
Im going to swap them out anyway as they have metalelastic bushes with a 3/8 hole and I want poly bushes with 12mm hole. All my brackets are 12mm. I
could press them out and make some more but I can not be arsed.
Thanks again wasa
