oops forgot the body
surly all it need to be at the most is 6" so that the prop goes in there or does having it big give lots of strength

Remember you have wiring loom, brake lines, handbrake etc. 6" is a tad on the large side but it depends on your prop, gearbox & engine
measurements allowing for offsets too.

My one is 140mm wide across the inside of the tubes. Prop is a fiddle to get in and out, and its all quite tight. But it fits!

well it always looks very tall, maybe just looks big because the car is smallish

Remember, depending on power output of the engine, this will determine the size of the uj joints on the prop.
If you go with more than 150 bhp you will need an uprated prop shaft that has a larger uj joint. My prop is in a 140mm tunnel and there aint much
clearance.
Just a thought.

Mine's even taller (by 1" ). This means I can get the gear lever remote inside with no unsightly connecting rods.

Here's a pic of my tunnel (without the lid), you can calculate a vague idea of size (tubes are 1"sq).

Remember that if you have a live axle your prop goes up & down too (& prolly sideways a bit). The engine/box usually aren't solidly
mounted either.
