just a thought, but has anyone built a monocoque? I don't know if it's really practical, but it sure would be cool...

Just been on Jim Mcsorleys website today.
What a first class site must have been a real labour of love, well done Jim, wish it was about when I built my chassis.Makes the book look sick in
comparison.
Cheers,
Bob

Yes Jim, we (YOU) have to work out the suspensions fixing points; then nobody will need The Book!...

Not just the Suspension Pints but a "rationalisation" of the "boo" cahssis front end design.. could be usefull.
IE: why do Tubes F1 & 2 taper in to the end!? G1 72 could continue straight (more or less as they are. LC is too long.. those silly
"ears', serve no rational pupose. extending G solves the LA,LB tube Screwup, There is nowhere near enough structure in the Front end area,
Tube(s) C should(must) be one piece, there is no triangulation of the the footwell ends, the Trans tunnel is simply a waste of tubing and work to
build.
If yer gonna fool with the Plans, might as well 'improve' the thing, not much joy in perpetuating the obvious 'problems :-).

front end mods
Hi Bare,
Great advice... in fact, I've already modified the screwy front end geometry similiar to what you're suggesting. You can see the basics
on my friend's website... (Bryon Harp)
http://www.geocities.com/isogriffination
I didn't model the entire chassis... just the front end basics to get him started (no triangulation, etc.),
Go for the "adobe file" link.
Cheers, - Jim M.

suspension points
Hi Joćo,
Yes... I agree. I need to fix that.
I could model the book A-arms with a slight mod and clear up that confusion... is that all you had in mind?
What I really need are some Cortina uprights and the 'book' ball joints... eBay maybe?
Cheers, - Jim M.

Jim, I put a post in the for sale/wanted section as I have been offered some cortina uprights/hubs which I do not want.

Hi Jim
In fact I personally should (shall) make a few changes to the book design, some of which were already pointed out in this thread.
The rear end of the chassis will be totally different as well to use the Sierra diff, etc.
As for the front running gear I'm sendind you the upright and balljoints gifs.
If you like we can discuss the chassis mods later.
Cheers

why not use pinto uprights? they are available on either side of the big pond aren't they? figure more here than there maybe but would be a
nice compromise.
Jim- I will see if I can get that fox body upright info for you.

The USA pinto car was never sold in the UK and possibly not mainland europe too. When we refer to the pinto engine, its just the engine.
