what light weight tube/box
hi whats the best guage tube or box to make the chassis out of. ive started to make a chassis. but i cant help think how heavy it will be when
finished. i want it as light as possible but safe.

your choice of tube depends on what you are building, ie what chassis design and what weight components. If you design the chassis well you can use
thinner tubes. There is obviously no real limits, you could use 3/4" 20g round or 1 1/4" 14g square. Id aim for inch round myself, and use
different wall thicknesses depending on loads.

When I made mine I tried to get 18g but stockists only really hold 16g, so mine is a mixture of 3/4" 16g for diagnoals and 1" 18g for the
more structural bits.
It ended up 'bare' easily able to lift myself so less than 10 stone.

I did similar to Mark, ^^^, but couldn't get 18g so made it all from 16g, 1" sq for the main rails, and 3/4"sq, and round, for the
diag's. Ray
