I'm with Volvosport - even if Volvos are wrong..
I created two spigots on the lathe tapped one left handed and the other right handed that way you don't have to unbolt an end to adjust it and
the control is finer (not that it would make that much of a difference)
when the spigots were pressed into the ends of the tube, I drilled a hole through the tube and into the spigot... then filled it full of weld... for
safety...
Any help?
oh yeah ... ebay for rose joints... i used 12mm because i had the taps, but 1/2 inch are a lot cheaper
if you don't have access to a lathe then bring gifts of beer and I'll help you out..

So your spigots ae only held in by a small blob of weld?
I'd feel better with them fully welded all the way round where they enter the tube.
