Handbrake mounting

Hi,
By the sounds of things, this weekend is going to be a manic one! With a shedload to do!
One of these tasks is going to be the handbrake, mounting it into the car,has anyone got some photos of how they did theirs please?

I found one photo, but im looking to lower it,by about 4 inches so that it doesnt look as if i have a flag pole in the car!

Would this just be a matter of fabricating a plate and welding it in 4 inches lower in the tunnel?

Cheers

Wouldn't that foul the propshaft?

Cheers

Mac#1 raise the tunnel and recess the H/B lever so its inside the tunnel when not in use

It's not that obvious from pic, but I used a Toyota MR2 handbrake mounted to the side of the tunnel. It's out of the way and works really well.

I actually like the side mounted idea since it gives more room for your arm to rest whilst driving. Mine is in the tunnel (half in half out).

Hi

Mounting it on the side is by far the easiest option. Also stops you swearing every time you bang your elbow on it when changing gear. I am pretty sure that the majority of ST cars had them on the side if looking for inspiration. But a MG metro maestro handbrake comes to mind as being what they used.

Personally i use a ford but have to re bend the mountings. Then just bolt it to the passenger side of the tunnel with spacers and a alloy cover made to fit around / over it.

Cheers Matt
