WIDE Chassis
I am sorry if there is another topic, i just could not find it.
I have a Locost based on book (ron champion) and i am considering building a new one with a wider (sv chassis) planning to use E30 325 as a donnor
car.
Are there any designs for a locost wide chassis? As i am only aware of ron champion design.

basen on ron champion chassis with an extra two variations of
+4 longer
+442 longer wider taller.

The McSorley plans are corrected champion chassis plans with a number of options on wider/higher/longer changes.

The newer ChrisG Sierra version of the book is certainly wider than the old Mk2 Escort version. No idea if it will take an E30 engine.

Out of interest, what is an sv chassis?
To be honest, you hardly need plans for a wider car! Just add 50mm or 100mm (or whatever extra length you want) to the length of all the lateral
chassis tubes! Easy!
To answer iank's question, the ChrisG plans are 2" wider than standard (Locost) design.
Just to be different I made my chassis 10% bigger by basically making every tube 10% longer!

I (and several others) built mine (theirs) according to Ron Champions plans, but added 4" to the width. Easy peezy

Haynes Roadster?...wider by 2" than Uncle Ron's Locost.

Wouldn't you have to source a wider rear axle and steering rack too?

Sierra is wider than Escort (and IRS to boot) and steering arm extensions sort out the steering

How about a Luego Viento
6" wider, 12" longer and about 4" taller than Uncle Rons original.
Uses all Sierra (and I think Granada) running gear. Unless you are going for Mega power ie 300+ HP.
I have one with a V8 in it.
Have a look in my archive and at:

Made to fit a 6 pot BMW in it.
Have seen one done by Luego, and it fits nicely.
There is loads of room under a Viento bonnet.
You can even fit a V10 (but needs some strengthening on the chassis for those 500 horses!)
Other than that, the mc Sorley plans are good if you want to build the chassis youself.
