GKD????
Hi all,
Im in the process of buying my first 'start from scratch' kit. I have seen this manufacturer GKD. Anyone seen the kit? Been out in one?
Any opinions. I do fancy the BMW powered kit. Let me know your thoughts on anything!
Thanks

Just seen the evidence under the blanket in the garage!!!
Is it correct that if using the M3 the only components you can use from the donor are the engine/gearbox?

you can't use m3 brakes(too big anyway) but everything else you can.
If its a none-evo you can use the LSD too.
I bought a set of front and rear flanges/uprights(exchange)/calipers(for exchange) and a spare none LSD diff for £200 from a breakers.
I decided to use an m3 as I got it for the right price and it saves messing about tuning zetec/duratec to get decent power and messing around with
ECU's etc and all the associated costs.

I feel a 500 mile round trip coming on.
I hope all goes well for you. Give it a year or so and it will have been worth every cold winter night, scraped knuckle, swearing outburst you will
more than likely experience.
Good luck!

I've not searched the GKD website or anything.
What's it based on dimensions and suspension wise? Locost? Locost with Sierra track?
Just curious.
Cheers,
James

its an evolution of the ginetta g20/27 chassis. 30mm longer than a locost I think.

have seen a couple of them now. the only reason I didn't buy one was, at the time, i couldn't afford a kit and an m3 donor.
what I will say is if you go for it get the m3 version, it just wouldn't be right with any other engine

Well, judging by what I've been reading, Ash, you've done a pretty fair job with what you did choose!
