Reliant Scimitar
Hi,
Bit of a long shot on this forum but does anybody know of an early (pre 1973) Scimitar GTE that is for sale (nothing in the obvious places)
Should be in good nic with MOT and manual gearbox
Thanks

Helps if you put your location in your profile

I actually went to see that one it was fairly shabby.
Not looked after since it was sold on from the guy who restored it

what are you looking for in terms of cost and condition? nice car or cheap car? theres plenty of cheap scimitars and a few really nice ones, but they
do command the bucks.
is it as basis for a project or std road car/daily? will ask around for you when you come back with what youre after

its now Iain Daniels Classic Engineering after scim services owner passed away. Still have lots of scimitar customers, and specialise in circuit
racing and hillclimb prep work too.

After seeing the one on Ebay I am after a good condition one not a cheap one.
I assume that means around £3k. Not concourse but just good all around condition.
I think that one (1970 model in Silver) was too expensive for its condition but had some magazine articles done when in good nic so the vendor thought
it was worth more.

OK thats fine. £3k-£5k is realistic i would have thought for what you are looking for, but to be honest there are a hundred 500quid
'projects' for every one of the type you are looking for.
i would contact the RSSOC club GTE registrar Jim King and also the club valuer Kevin Cooper, as often they are approached by members looking to sell
nice cars rather than the usual ebay tat.
with regards to location, you will have to travel to view nice cars, i think the likelihood of the standard of car appearing locally is slim.
August 14/15th is the Clubs National Sporting weekend at Curborough sprint circuit which usally sees 600-700 scimitars visit over the weekend, often
find a good number for sale, and many owners 'save' the nicer cars to sell to showcase there, rather than usual wanted ads.
pistonheads also sees a reasonable standard of car.
Have you spoken to Nigel at Queensberry Road Garage in Kettering? a long time scimitar dealer, and still srevices many many cars he supplied from new.
He might be an ideal man to keep an eye out for a customer that wants to move on a car he knows well? least you get a good history of the car rather
than the 'blind faith' method of buying s/hand cars lol.
Also speak to Iain Daniels as mentioned previously 01530 515300
will contact you if i hear of anything to suit you
regards

just an aside, the more modern cars seem to come up in above average for their age condition more often than the models you are looking at. Generally
most from the early 70s have had to have some serious resto to still be around 40 years on. Ceratinly easier to find a nice straight
'daily' in the condition you are looking for from the SE6B/middlebridge ranges i would have thought, and for less money than a suitably
restored Se5

Many thanks for the info.
I have spoken to the Kettering garage but not the other so I will give them a go.
The August meet seems a good idea.
