Which battery?

I need to replace my battery because it's really old and unreliable.
The code of my current battery is:
543 017 030.  12v 43ah. 300a.

I'm wanting a really good battery, how much would a decent battery cost me and where's the best place to get one?
What are good brands for batteries?
I live in south yorkshire if that helps but I don't mind buying one online

Any help would be much appreciated

Cheers Gav

It is really the short type code that battery suppliers use --- a number something 045 or 063 or 097
From the spec it sounds like you may have a type 063 or similar sized battery --- fitted to a lot of cars around 1.6 litres for dimensions see specifications tab on http://www.tayna.co.uk/batterygroups/4/063-Car-Batteries-page1.html --- Tanya batteries deliver very very quickly.

Look for at least 4 warranty --- Varta (now part of Bosch) or Exide are generally considered the best manufacturers by a large margin.

I would seriously consider a gel type racing battery. Very small and very light. Mine cost about £70 new on eBay a couple of years ago, and today turned over and eventually started my 2.0 pinto after 3 months!

Well worth a look.

Check out the Odyssey range - really compact but they pack a hell of a punch
