Where to put battery isolator?

Ok, now I'm bored....

Car SVA'd in the garage....can't drive it till DVLA man calls..What should I do now?

The way I have wired the hazards (bike loom used) the relay is taking some current. I could rewire after passing so hazards work off ignition, but I would like to have the ability to isolate the battery easily.

If I put in one of those red key type isolators, which side would it normally be situated? You never know might race at some time in the future. The battery is on the nearside by the bulkhead. So the easiest place to put the switch is on the dash on the nearside (less conjested)

Any thoughts?

I think it's the -ve or Earth side of the battery that's normally isolated.
I'm sure some of the racers on here can confirm though.

I got mine at rhe bulhead end of the transmission tunnel, its not visual from the cockpit which is nice and its just above the gearbox so plenty of room.

It isolates the earth side of battery.

Just remember, if you're going to compete, the Master Switch should also short the feed from the alternator and/or cut any fed to the ignition system so that the engine stops immeditaely the switch is operated! Check the Blue Book (MSA) for correct location / wiring etc.

equally, make sure you dont position it to make it too easy for carjackers to kill the engine - you wouldnt want some scallies killing the engine at some lights etc.

just doing mine at the mo. going to locate it on either left side of scuttle or left side of dash but i have wired up as per instructions and lsdweb is spot on you will have to go thru +ve side. You can mount it anywhere and use a t pull cableas some of the racers use!

the reason for it being in the earth line is if its used in emergencies (accident when racing) disconeccting the battery does nowt cos the alternator is still supplying power from the running engine.
