New chassis material ?
after looking at this post CLICK
could you make a 7 chassis out of bamboo ?
maybe even a atom style chassis, would need to give it a nice coat of varnish maybe ???

Why not?
Morgan's had an Ash wooden chassis.
Seems to have worked for them.
I would think that if you used engineered (ie; laminated and formed) bamboo it 'wood' be a superb material.
Don't fancy all those splinters in the event of an oops though.
Tell them about the bent treacle edges!

No, common misconception - the chassis is steel but the bodyframe is ash - which was pretty common way back when. The traditional ones still are its
only really the Aero 8 onwards that have gone to the bonded Ali chassis.
Mind you I did once ride in an old landrover that had some of the chassis replaced with wood ! this was a while ago and it was on the Scilly Isles so
I don't think they are subject to mot's.

I stand corrected. Thank you.
Ben Hur did alright with a wooden chssis though and that was under racing conditions.

Currently a HUGE amount of research in to using bamboo as a replacement for carbon fibre.
Carbon doesn't decompose so doesn't have much life left as a sustainable product.
Whoever figures out how to get from a bit of grass to an F1 car will get very rich indeed!

if i bought a super car i wouldn’t want it to decompose... i would prefer carbon as it wont decompose thankyou very much...
but yes, for other applications carbon isnt the best material to use...
