Autosport labs is the place, but, they don't do self build kits any more.

That's one of the first place I found mate but couldn't find the DIY kit as I quite liked the idea of building it from scratch

^^^ then your looking for the older V3 ones

they stopped making the DIY kits not long after they changed to V4, although there are still plenty of little DIY projects you can do round about the ECU (hard rev limiter, shift lights......)

Wonder why they no longer show the construction guide for the SMD version.

I was wondering this myself.
Sure my last megajolt kit v3 cost about £60-£70.
It now looks like you have to buy a pre build one for £200.
What's happened thought megajolt was meant to be the cheap way forward.

Are there any other options or OEM controllers than can be re programmed and run with EDIS?

MJ is only $161 on the Autosportlabs website.

Not much more than £100.

There were a few people used to make them on here but at that price it's probably not worth the effort.

I used to be apathetic but now I just don't care.

I built a surface mount unit for some one when they first changed over to smd but they no longer sell it as a kit.Supposedly the reason for changing was that the older type of processor which was a16 pin in-line was no longer available although I have a couple of spare ones at present. I think that there are some near equivalents that could work but no PCB s are available. I have considered making some simple controllers up using the megajolt pc interface but without the extra outputs hard rev limiter etc. but don't know if there is a big enough market to justify the time involved, also don't know how long Edis units will be easily available for.

I will probably end up ordering a ready built one from trigger wheels for 140 and get the edis4 ect from eBay I just quite liked the idea of building it myself really

How does it work bringing stuff in from America as it's about 100 quid but will I get stung for any charges ect

Paulf how much you recon you could make them up for as I'm not really fussed about the extra outputs ect just want a programeble ignition

At a guess I would say they had so many cocking up the build of the SMD version that they went for the built only route.

that'll be why the long awaited megajolt 2.0 isn't going to need an EDIS

^^ I'm sure I heard that from someone before.......
there is alot of discussion over on the autosportlabs forum about why they changed the kit (up to you if you beleve it or not though)
