Chassis undercoat?

Quick question

I wanted to paint my wishbones but im not sure what to use I have some cheap Screwfix red oxide primer or i have some expensive zinc phosphate paint. would it make any difference which one i used? I plan to hand paint the chassis afterwards with basic chassis paint.

Also before painting once i've cleaned the metal up should it be keyed?

Cheers Will

I used hammerite grey undercoat in brush on for chassis and spray for the other fittings. Does a nice job.

Use the better paint, it will hopefully last a lot longer. And these days, hammerite? just no (sorry), it is often known as chipperite for good reason.
