Panelling
Can someone tell me what sheet metal I need to panel a locost (narrowbody Westfield in this case)?
I'm thinking of welding in steel bulkhead panels to the fronts of the footwells (1mm thick?), and possibly a steel floor (1mm or thicker?)
Currently the car came with very thin ally plates which were rivetted on. I'm certain these are 1mm at most, as they are incredibly thin
(haven't got my micrometer on them yet).
What thickness of ally should I be looking to replace it with? Keeping in mind Westfields tend to be double skinned along the sides for some reason?
(i.e. ally panelling inside and out of the cockpit).
I'll probably be retaining the current rivet holes to avoid holing the chassis any more, but they're at approx 2-3" intervals, is
that sufficient? Obviously will be bonded on with Sikaflex as well.
So, how much should ally sheet cost approximately, and is there a locost supply of it somewhere? I'll ask at work for off-cuts, but will
probably have to splash out on the larger side panels, rear bulkhead and floor as I'm unlikely to find off cuts big enough.
Cheers

I've used a 2mm 5251 H22 for the floor (210MPa Tensile Strength). I then used 1mm 1050 H14 (Half Hard) for the tunnel, behind seats, sides
(100MPa Tensile Strength).
I got my metal from Aalco and collected it myself
