renault dci water problem!!!!
Hi guys,
I have a renault 1.9dci with a water issue wonder if anybody has any ideas what the problem is???
firstly I have filled the expansion tank to the max level (indicated on the side of the tank). When you run the engine upto temp the expansion tank
filled slowly from the small top tube until the expansion tank is full, then water is released from the cap.soon after the fan comes on and the
remaining water drops. The fan switches off and it goes through the process of filling the tank until the fan comes back on etc.
Once the engine is cold I top the expansion tank up with water, and when it is upto temp it goes through the above cycle again
any ideas what could be causing this problem?????
cheers Ross

Sounds like the presure cap isn't holding presure. If you can, get it presure tested... or just fit a new one and see.
