Fury Footwell Finally Finished - causes alliteration to break out across the land, and pics

So, I've finally finished my footwell, massively modified to take my equally modified OBP pedal box.

Here are some pictures for you:

This one is more or less the money shot - it's the transmission tunnel recess, designed to give enough clearance for the wide duratec bellhousing at the same time as accommodating the obp pedal box. You can also see the little box I had to fabricate to allow the throttle pedal to have full travel. I did test it against my jenveys and sure enough it seemed to want to go all the way - I'd sooner have the full travel even if I later didn't need it rather than the other way around.

Here's the pedal box, it's a totally snug fit in there now. Each pedal has about 5mm clearance with the side as it goes it's full travel.

Here's the full frontal. There's been a little warping when welding, but the pedal-box goes in straight and bolts up true.

Finally, the vertigo inducing top down shot

Looks good, but surely you will kick the top of the footwell when pressing the pedals, as there doesnt look to be much space above them?

Hi Davey

I've tested that, and it's fine. There's a lot of pedal, and my legs are very much out flat in the car, with my heels resting on the lower cross-member.

The height is the same as the original footwell.

It's lovely work, but how much does that lot weigh?

Not sure - may have cost me half a kilo over the original footwell, which was a similar size. it's still just 1.5mm mild steel.

The new pedal box is the same weight as the original, which I couldn't use (moving over to hydraulic clutch).

Nicely done.
Looks like alot of faffination to fit a pedal box which a number of my friends have put in the bin for being too flimsy... hope your mileage varies.

We shall see. It's the race box. Seems like a reasonable design and I've been sure to give it a strong bulkhead to mount to. Most of the braking force should go to the bulkhead (footwell front).

I saw this on the underside of the wing of the SR-71 Blackbird at Duxford and immediately thought of you

If it's good enough for Mach 3.2, it's good enough for a Fury.

You properly had me laughing there, but it does go to support the premise that 1" spacing is the way ahead for structural work.

And thanks lots
