Steel supplier in the Midlands

Has anyone got any pointers for steel suppliers/stockholders in the midlands? I've been trawling the forums for a while, and the best I can find are shop4steel and metals4u. shop4steel are local but they only do 2mm thickness for the 20mm SHS and 2.5mm for the 25mm SHS. metals4u have the 1.6mm/16 gauge for both but they seem to be double the price of what is expected.

I'm only after the SHS and round tube, I'll get the plates from Gillhamonline.

Alternatively, is there any issue with using 2mm rather than 1.6mm?

Thanks.

Christmas steel stockholders in Shrewsbury, use them myself and pretty reasonable especially for off cut sizes that usually just require a few quid to the tea / Christmas fund

Thanks for the quick responses guys. With regards to offcuts etc, do you just turn up and see what they have or do you still phone up beforehand? I'm guessing the amount of metal I need for a full chassis might need a bit more than just tea fund contributions.

Looks like Camp Steel only go down to 2mm thickness, is that a problem considering 1.6mm is the norm?

Give them a call as I have bought 1.6 off them before. If you go down there the blokes brilliant, he throws me off cuts in with my purchase for nothing

Old thread I know but just wanted to say based on the recommendation of this thread I've just been to camp steel and couldn't be more pleased. Lovely lads who were very helpful and got everything I needed for £8! Last steel I bought was from b&q (I know... But I work long hours in week normally) and I got literally 5 times as much for my money!

So thanks for the recommendation!
