Chassis differences?

Hello all,

I'm new on the forum, i'm from north of France, excuse me for my bad english.
I have the intention to start building my own seven in june.

I think i will bought my chassis, upright, wishbones, i will not weld myself. i was looking for parts and i have seen this site:

http://youraccount.ekmpowershop9.com/ekmps/shops/gtstuning/bodywork-1-c.asp

i'm a little bit lost, what is the difference between panther, locost or haynes?

i'm tall :1.95 and i want enough space,
I want an enough tall model to not make opening on the bonnet

i don't what chassis take, haynes is cheap but i'm intrested in an improved chassis or lighter but not too far in price.

Your advices are welcome!

Firstly Welcome.

I would strongly advise against buying from that seller. use the search button on the top toolbar to look for GTS Tuning, I'm not sure they are even trading these days.

I would look at http://www.gillhamonline.co.uk/ I've brought some smaller parts from them an their service is great.

http://www.talonmotorfabrication.co.uk/# also do chassis, and most of these guys are looking at MX5's as donor cars too.

A Haynes roadster is 2" (52mm) wider than a locost, I welded up one for a friend and with the pedal box in I had to slide the seat forwards. I'm 6' (181cm).

Regards Dan

Chassis manufacturers who's names begin with the letter "M" tend to have good feed back on the forum.

MK engineering.
MK sports cars
MNR

I think that's the M's refereed to. In all fairness there are quire a few suppliers, worth doing a bit of research first..

The Haynes chassis would be high on my list (i.e.based on this book:

boo k

Worth getting a copy..

None of the designs are perfect but the Haynes has the advantage of not being a single manufacture but an open design anyone can copy/improve...

To be honest if I had the money I might be thinking about a real lotus 7 replica chassis (i.e. http://www.archmotor.co.uk/ )..
