I've made a video of me laying up my composite footwell, 20x speed
Well, I've finally laid a youtube egg, and here's the video to prove it.
It covers
* getting the core material the right shape
* cutting templates of the cloth
* layup testing
* spraying gelcoat
* realising i need more practice at spraying gel-coat
* painting the gel-coat in
* being unhappy with that and ripping it out
There will be further videos once I've got on to part 2, which is final layup and infusion.
Here is the link to it.

Thanks Mark - I think the right thing to do is totally commit. there's a lot of cloth going into that

I did make my first set of rear arches, had fibreglass resin sticking to everything in sight so maybe I'm not the best one to comment.
You do indeed look committed, what happens to the off cuts, do you feed them into the corners for reinforcement? Being as locost as they come I hate
waste, but then spending money comes hard as well if I can do it myself. Most times I do things however to prove to myself that I can.

A few comments/observations/questions:
- Nice work on the templating. For a cosmetic part, it really pays dividends for getting well fitting/aligned cloth
- Use gloves when handling fabrics - your fingers will be leaving grease all over your materials which can cause issues in the finished laminate
- Wear safety specs when going anywhere near catalyst - it is seriously nasty stuff (I have sent numerous people to casulatly due to catalyst burns in
the eye - one chap ended up with a hole in his lower eyelid)
- What was the problem with your gelocoat? Was it dedicated spray gelcoat, or regular? Did you thin it with styrene (or acetone)?
Oh, and the soundtrack was very annoying!
Looking forward to seeing part 2!
