Avon scratch build chassis
One of my options for my new project is to build an Avon , are there any known mods / alterations to take into account before going this route?

If you're going by the book, get the latest one. The earlier books do contain errors which are corrected in the 'how to build Tiger Avon
or GTA' book. I know a couple of people who have requested a scan of the newer pages after working with the earlier books, although I
don't know what is actually missing/wrong.

Wider front wishbones
Put a rear bar on the top like the locost have. Like a loop to help the rear tub sit better.
Adjust the front wishbone brackets to reduce bump steer
Widen the tunnel if you can.depends on what engine you want but I limits gearboxes on zetec.
As mentioned above the latest book is better.
Have you not got the cash to buy one? I think at stoneleigh they will have offers I and seen them at £400.

I scratch built my locost a few years ago and loved every minute of the buil so I really enjoy the full build if you know what I mean.
The book I have is second edition but not the ERA one too
Can you still buy the lazer cut parts for the wishbones and uprights?
Jossey when you say wider wishbones, what is the reason? Steering issues?

Look here
Wishbone brackets off eBay don't fit.neither do the wishbone bushes they are all weird sizes.
I got mine direct from tiger directly.
Look forward to seeing the build. Mine has the wider bones and new angles on the wishbones to improve handling and reduce under steer and bump
steer.
Good luck
David

Widetrack wishbones (reduce understeer), cage mounting brackets (for future), delete Sierra pedal box brackets (if floor mounted pddals), centre floor
harness anchor points, higher rear harness anchor points (if IVA), better nearside engine mount plate. Ive had no issues with bump steer.

unless it is the challenge of making a chassis you are looking for, surely it would save a lot of time and pain and just buy the chassis direct from
Tiger.

I need the challenge....again it's very satisfying building and driving a car you built, not from a kit form, my own preference I guess, I have
a fabricating workshop if I wish to use it and have a good steel stockest
