Graded bolts on non-structural fixings

I can understand why 8.8 bolts are used for suspension, engine/diff mounts, that sort of stuff, but for things like steering column fixings, pedal bolts, and other fixings that aren't under as much stress, is it still necessary/appropriate to use 8.8 bolts?

It may be overkill in alot of cases, but 8.8 is often the easiest grade to get...

Besides alot of the bolts on production cars (and my dax) are actually 10.9 or 12.9 on the critical parts and 8.8 for the 'low stressed' parts

Brake pedal is pretty important, as are steering fixings.
Besides, there isn't a downside to 8.8, they are cheap enough. Buy a box of long setscrews from toolstation, chop to length. But for suspension etc you want correct length shouldered bolts (in fact yesterday I had to go buy some 45mm cap heads to get enough shoulder, and then chop them down to 30mm)

As said above, 8.8 bolts are pretty well the normal grade you can buy, and I use then for everything

buy cheap (crap) and buy twice

Thats was probably spelt wrong, or had some grammer, that the "grammer police have to have a moan at

8.8 is nowadays a standard grade, used in most applications.(automotive and machinery)

this said, in the automotive field also higher grade bolts are used. e.g. brakes or suspension

means 8.8 isnt your "complete stress free package".
not using the correct grade of bolts and nuts (yes, also nuts have a grade), incl. correctly sized (diameter and thikness) washers in the designated area might have drastic consequences.
